Adyen, the global financial technology platform used by leading enterprises, has renewed and expanded its global partnership with Uber (NYSE: UBER), deepening a collaboration that began in 2012 and has supported Uber’s payments infrastructure for more than a decade.

Under the renewed agreement, Adyen will continue to act as a core payments engine for Uber as the mobility and delivery platform scales its operations across more than 70 countries and six continents. The expanded partnership reflects Uber’s increasing reliance on Adyen’s global payments capabilities to improve performance, expand payment choice, and support ongoing international growth.

As part of the expansion, Uber has extended its use of Adyen’s services into new territories including the UAE, Hong Kong and the Caribbean. The partnership also includes the expansion of local acquiring in major markets such as Japan, Mexico, New Zealand and Australia. In parallel, Uber is adopting high-growth local payment methods to meet regional consumer preferences, including Pix in Brazil, AfterPay in Australia and WeChat Pay globally, enabling travellers to order Uber rides through the WeChat mini app.

Beyond geographic growth, the two companies are also collaborating on payments innovation. This includes new payment method integrations and support for emerging business models, such as Uber kiosks deployed at airports, hotels and large venues worldwide.

“The expansion of our partnership with Uber underscores a shared commitment to achieving global scale together, which has continued for well over a decade,” commented Trevor Nies, SVP Global Head of Digital at Adyen. “Having already supported strong volume acceleration in 40 key markets over the last year, including the US, UK and Brazil, we remain focused on enhancing Uber’s payments experience, from offering new payment methods to pioneering new business lines.”

From Uber’s perspective, payments infrastructure remains central to its ability to scale globally and launch new services quickly.

“A reliable and innovative payment platform is a fundamental requirement for Uber’s global growth. Continuing and expanding our partnership with Adyen is key to that, enabling us to support our growth and quickly integrate new methods,” said Karl Hébert, Vice President of Global Commerce at Uber. “We are excited to leverage their technology to realize the full potential of our ongoing innovation and expansion into new business areas.”

One of the most visible outcomes of the partnership is the launch of Uber kiosks powered by Adyen terminals. Designed to offer a phone-free way to book rides, the kiosks are aimed at international travellers who may not have local mobile data or access to the Uber app.

The kiosks allow users to enter their destination, select a ride type and receive a printed receipt with trip details. The first installation debuted at LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal C, with further rollouts planned across hotels, ports and international airports in the coming months.
