The UAE Cybersecurity Council and Veeam Software have entered into a partnership focused on cybersecurity training, technical exercises, recovery preparedness and data governance across the United Arab Emirates. The agreement will support the Council’s Centre of Excellence framework, which is intended to develop cybersecurity skills and capabilities through training, certifications, simulations, readiness exercises and collaboration with industry.

Under the partnership, Veeam will contribute training and certification programs, executive briefings, technical workshops and recovery exercises. The work will also include role-based learning, simulation environments and practitioner programs, along with technical working sessions, research and development, and the exchange of information security and resilience practices. The two organizations will also work on initiatives covering data governance across public and private sector organizations.

“The UAE remains committed to building a secure, resilient and future-ready digital ecosystem,” said His Excellency Dr Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government. “Our partnership with Veeam reflects the importance of trusted public-private collaboration in strengthening national cyber resilience, advancing cyber recovery capabilities and supporting the secure adoption of AI and digital technologies. Together, we will contribute to practical skills development, stronger organisational readiness and a more resilient digital future for the UAE.”

Expanding the Centre of Excellence Program

The partnership adds Veeam’s training and recovery expertise to a framework that the Cybersecurity Council uses to support cybersecurity capacity development in the UAE. Its planned activities range from professional training to cyber simulations and technical exercises, giving participating organizations opportunities to work through different aspects of incident preparedness and recovery.

The agreement also comes as the UAE develops specific requirements for securing artificial intelligence systems. The UAE Government’s National Cyber Security Policy for Artificial Intelligence, updated on July 2, 2026, sets requirements covering AI governance, infrastructure and application security, operational safety and monitoring and response. The policy also calls for testing and validation to support the resilience and continuity of AI systems.

That focus on testing and recovery is reflected in the activities planned under the new partnership. For organizations, recovery exercises can help technical teams work through how systems and data would be restored following a cyber incident, while role-based training can establish responsibilities across different parts of an organization before an incident takes place. The partnership will also address data governance, an area that becomes more important as organizations use larger amounts of data across cloud, enterprise and AI systems.

“We are honoured to establish a partnership with the UAE Cybersecurity Council to help strengthen cyber resilience, advance cybersecurity skills development and support organisations in building secure, recoverable and resilient digital environments. Together, we can help organisations strengthen their recovery readiness and establish the trusted foundation needed to embrace emerging technologies and AI with confidence,” said Amin Hanafieh, Regional Director, Middle East & CIS at Veeam

The partnership forms part of Veeam’s continued work in the UAE, including investment in local talent, expertise and regional delivery capabilities. The company has also participated in UAE government initiatives focused on data governance and cybersecurity.

For the Cybersecurity Council, the agreement extends the Centre of Excellence’s industry participation and adds further training and recovery activities to its national cybersecurity capacity-building efforts. For organizations taking part in the program, the focus will be on developing skills, testing procedures and preparing for the recovery of systems and data following cyber incidents.
