For years, the digital asset industry has treated user trust, price volatility, and regulatory uncertainty as the obstacles standing between ordinary people and crypto trading. mb.io, the regulated digital asset platform of MultiBank Group, is betting the more mundane obstacle is the one nobody talks about: the moment a user has to leave the app to fund their account, then come back and hope the payment cleared.

This week, mb.io partnered with Botim, the UAE's leading fintech platform, to let users fund their mb.io accounts directly through Botim inside the app, collapsing a step that has quietly determined whether new crypto users actually start trading or give up midway.
Account funding sounds like a minor technical detail next to the bigger questions crypto platforms usually get asked about, custody, compliance, market risk. But for a first-time user, it is often the entire experience. Leaving an app to complete a bank transfer or card payment on a separate screen, then returning to confirm the funds landed, introduces exactly the kind of friction that causes people to abandon a sign-up before they ever place a trade. By building Botim in as a payment method, mb.io users can complete funding using a flow they already use for everyday purchases, without a separate login or a new payment method to set up.
"Getting your account funded should never be the hardest part of trading crypto," said Naser Taher, founder and chairman of MultiBank Group. "Botim is part of daily financial life for millions of people in the UAE. Integrating Botim as a payment method into mb.io means our users can go from zero to trading with fewer steps, less friction, and a payment experience they already know. That is exactly the kind of accessibility we are building toward."
The comment reflects a fairly simple insight that the crypto industry has been slow to act on: familiarity converts better than novelty, and the fastest way to get someone trading digital assets is to make the money part feel exactly like something they already do.
The partnership also says something about how far Botim itself has traveled. What began as a voice and video calling app has become a genuine financial services platform, offering payments, remittance, cards, credit, and investment tools to a UAE user base that increasingly treats the app as a daily financial utility rather than a communications tool. Botim is licensed by the Central Bank of the UAE under its Stored Value Facility and Retail Payment Services and Card Schemes licenses, which is what allows it to sit inside a regulated flow like mb.io's rather than functioning as a workaround.
"For digital asset platforms, the funding step is where user experience and trust are tested," said Kavi Choitram, SVP of Botim Business. "By enabling Botim as a payment method within the mb.io app, this partnership provides UAE users with a familiar and regulated way to fund their accounts. For Botim, it reflects our approach as a user-first fintech platform, helping partners embed trusted payment capabilities directly into their digital experiences while making financial services simpler and more accessible."
That last point is the more consequential one. Botim is not just adding a crypto feature for its own users. It is positioning itself as embedded payment infrastructure that other regulated platforms can plug into, a role that looks a lot more like a fintech rail than a messaging app with a wallet attached.
mb.io did not arrive at this partnership as a crypto-native startup looking for distribution. It is the digital asset arm of MultiBank Group, a company built over two decades as one of the world's most heavily regulated forex and derivatives brokers, which launched its exchange in 2022 and has since leaned on that regulatory pedigree to differentiate itself in a crowded digital asset market. For a platform whose entire pitch rests on institutional infrastructure and compliance, a funding partner that is itself centrally licensed matters more than it would for a less regulated competitor. Pairing MultiBank's brokerage-grade credibility with Botim's everyday reach gives mb.io a funding path that looks less like a crypto exchange bolting on a payment app and more like two regulated UAE financial platforms deciding that the account-funding step should not be where users get stuck.
None of this changes what happens once the money lands, users still have to navigate price swings and trading decisions on their own. But it removes the one step that has nothing to do with markets and everything to do with product design, and it does so by leaning on a payment habit that millions of UAE residents have already built without thinking about it.
