Salesforce has agreed to acquire Braze for $5.66 billion, adding one of the market’s strongest real-time customer engagement platforms to its AI stack. The bigger shift is what happens when CRM stops simply recording customer behaviour and AI begins acting on it instantly.

For many years, customer relationship management has operated in a certain way. It has largely been based on what has already happened: whether they bought something, opened an email, or contacted support.
The next generation of CRM is very interesting. It is about looking at the customer's current action, what they are doing, deciding what should happen next, and taking action before a human marketer ever touches the workflow.
Salesforce is acquiring Braze a leading customer engagement platform for $5.66 billion. This acquisition fits directly into the new CRM transition.
Under this agreement, Braze Class A shareholders will receive $47.50 per share in cash, representing a roughly 58% premium to the company’s previous closing price. The transaction is expected to close in Salesforce’s fiscal 2028, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals. Reuters
Salesforce has built an enormous customer data ecosystem and its Customer 360 connects information across sales, service, marketing and commerce. Data 360 provides the data layer. Agentforce is designed to deploy autonomous AI agents on top of that information. Braze adds another dimension through its platform, which is built around real time behavioral signals

When a customer is browsing the product, or abandons the cart, opens an app, responds to an advertisement and changes how they interact with a service, Braze can use those events to adjust the customer journey immediately.
Its event-streaming architecture is designed for high-volume consumer engagement across mobile apps, websites, email, SMS, WhatsApp and other channels. Investors.braze.com
This makes the acquisition strategically useful for Salesforce and changes the CRM dynamics entirely. With its agentic AI deployments, Salesforce can use the software to act at the right moment with customers. That could mean an AI agent recognizing that a customer has abandoned a purchase, determining the most appropriate offer, selecting the best channel and sending a message without a marketer manually setting up each step.
BrazeAI is already optimizing content, offers, channels and timing, combined with Salesforce’s customer context it begins to look less like marketing automation and more like autonomous customer orchestration.
Braze also brings in its customers; the company serves approximately 2,770 customers, including Canva, Equinox, Instacart, Urban Outfitters, Venmo, and Dairy Queen. Its technology is strong in high volume B2C environments, where millions of individual customer interactions are processed and personalized quickly.
This acquisition signals a broader shift in CRM strategies. The ability to leverage real-time behavioral signals can play a huge role in how businesses plan their marketing campaigns.
