Businesses across the Middle East are exploring how artificial intelligence can support customer service and daily operations, but systems developed primarily for English can struggle with regional Arabic dialects and conversations that switch between Arabic and English. HUMAIN and Napster are looking to address this through a partnership to bring Arabic-speaking AI agents to public and private sector organizations across Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East.
The agreement combines HUMAIN’s ALLAM large language model and HUMAIN Voice services with Napster’s AI agent platform. Through secure application programming interfaces (APIs), Napster will access HUMAIN’s real-time speech recognition and text-to-speech technology, alongside language capabilities that can support Arabic conversations. These tools will be integrated with Napster’s video presence, Large Persona Model technology and multimodal agent infrastructure, with the aim of helping digital agents communicate with customers and employees, retain conversational context and carry out tasks.
Arabic dialects remain a challenge
Arabic-language AI must handle more than formal written Arabic. Everyday speech varies across Gulf, Egyptian, Levantine and other dialects, while conversations in professional settings often mix Arabic with English technical terms. A system can produce a fluent response yet still misunderstand a request, particularly when it relies on a regional expression or changes direction during a conversation.
HUMAIN says its voice technology supports multiple Arabic dialects and English, including conversations that switch between the two languages. ALLAM also supports text generation, summarization and function calling, which allows a model to request actions from connected software. Combined with Napster’s platform, these capabilities are intended to help AI agents move beyond answering questions and interact with business applications.
HUMAIN expands its enterprise reach
For HUMAIN, the partnership provides another route for its Saudi-developed AI technology to reach businesses through an established application platform. Backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the company works across AI infrastructure, cloud services, models and applications. It has also partnered with Microsoft to bring ALLAM to Microsoft Foundry and the Microsoft 365 Copilot ecosystem, giving organizations another way to access the model through existing enterprise products. Further details are available in Microsoft’s announcement. For Napster, the agreement adds Arabic-language and speech capabilities to its agent platform and for HUMAIN, it creates another distribution channel for its technology.
Businesses evaluating the technology will need to consider how well it handles real customer interactions, protects company information and connects with existing software. Arabic support may make AI more accessible to employees and customers, but adoption will also depend on reliability, security, integration costs and the amount of work an agent can complete without human intervention.
